Psychologist Robert Plutchik developed a wheel of emotions to illustrate various feelings. The wheel has eight core human emotions that are opposite to each other. These emotions can develop into other emotional states that are more intense or milder.
The emotions wheel is a tool that can help us understand our feelings. It shows six core emotions and the different emotional states that they can develop into.
Benefits of using the Emotions Wheel Template
The Emotions Wheel Template can help you build empathy and understand the emotions of participants when leading an important meeting or workshop. It can also help you check-in with your audience to see how they are feeling and what their energy levels are at that moment.
The "check-in" is a way to ensure that everyone in the meeting is on the same page, and to allow for open discussion of any differing opinions. This template can help to build team morale and create a space where everyone feels heard.
How to use the Emotions Wheel Template
To use the Emotions Wheel Template in a meeting or workshop, simply add it to your board in FigJam. Your participants don't need to know much about FigJam to use this template effectively.
Step 1. When everyone is at the meeting, ask your colleagues to mark the section on the Emotions Wheel that represents their current emotional state.
Step 2. After everyone marked their emotions, try to analyze the outcome and highlight the most frequent ones.
Step 3. Thank everyone for participating and being honest, and end by saying that every emotion is valid and perfectly normal.
Step 4. If you feel the group is ready, ask for volunteers to share their answers and experiences.
